For 11 years (1998-2009), we were a high school girls team. For a couple of years, we sponsored younger girls teams, too.
Today, we are a WOMEN'S
(21+) ICE
HOCKEY TEAM. |

Congratulations to Julie Osipow, winner of the 2009 Allyson Rioux Award. The award is given annually to the most outstanding scholar-athlete among female high school seniors in the City of Stamford. The honor is well-deserved and we're very proud of our association with her. Julie joins Katie Hynes (2001), Natalie Savona (2004) and Karlie Tiscia (2008) as the fourth member of the Spinnakers to earn this most prestigious award. |

That has been the subject of many discussions. Indeed, there are a couple of lengthy papers about the rise and fall of the Stamford Spinnakers high school team in the archives at USA Hockey Headquarters in Colorado. The purpose of this page, now under construction, is to tell that story, with the hope that our experience will be useful to others. |
